New Vessel Under Construction |
|
MMS is expanding its fleet with the construction of a new 60’ x 24’ barge. The unnamed vessel is raked at both ends and has 6 watertight compartments. The new vessel will have capacity for up to a 30 ton crane and associated equipment. The new barge is scheduled for completion in 2009 and will expand our ability to perform multiple large scale dock construction projects simultaneously. It will also increase our ability to serve our customers by having equipment stationed near by and reducing the costs of transporting equipment to job sites. |

As of 11-21-08 the internal framing is complete and we are about to lay the deck on the stern section. We are attempting to complete as much of the welding as possible while the hull is open to allow for safety and ease of work. |
|
Framing and plating of the bow and forward sections are complete and all that is left is to install the spud wells, bitts and weld the seams.

The double ended barge with rolled rake sections will give this barge maximum efficiency and allow it to cut through the water with minimum resistance. Furthermore the rolled rake sections are extremely strong and braced heavily to carry the loading and operating of a crane on deck. |

This new barge is 10’ longer than our existing barges and will be able to carry even more materials to remote jobsites per tow. The new barge is another part of our fleet upgrade that will make MMS more efficient in the future, serving our customers better. |
